Barisal--- Valuables worth about Tk 15 lakh were gutted in a devastating fire at a textile mill in BSCIC industrial-belt here on Saturday.

Witnesses said the fire originated at about 12:45 pm from an electric short circuit at Five Star Textile Mills and soon engulfed its various sections.

Technical Manager of the mill, Alamgir Hossain, said over 1,000 kg of cotton was burnt to ashes in the fire.

Fire fighters brought the blaze under control after two hours of frantic efforts.
